Allianz has appointed George Sartorel as CEO of the Asia-Pacific region.

The position had been vacant since David Fried left in January before taking the same role with QBE.

“George is an accomplished leader with a long track record within Allianz,” board member Manuel Bauer said. “He brings an excellent mix of leadership, inspiration, operational experience and passion to our business.”

Mr Sartorel is currently CEO of Allianz Italy. He will begin his new role on January 1.
