Recreational boat insurer Club Marine has appointed Karen Te Maipi as CEO, taking over from Simon McLean who is now GM Automotive and Marine at parent company Allianz.

Ms Te Maipi has been in the role on an acting basis since January. She took up the job permanently last month, a spokesman for the insurer told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

She will run the Melbourne-based business from its head office in bayside suburb Brighton.

Ms Te Maipi was previously Allianz head of brand and direct, a role she held for nearly five years.

Before joining Club Marine in April 2015, she was a senior marketing specialist at RACV, according to her LinkedIn account.
