Allianz Australia has promoted Chief GM Workers’ Compensation David Krawitz to COO.

He replaces Garry Townsend, who is to retire on December 31 after 44 years in the insurance industry and 14 with Allianz.

Mr Krawitz joined Allianz in 2004, having previously worked for McKinsey & Company in Australia and the US, and the New York Life Insurance Company.

The role of Chief GM Workers’ Compensation will be filled from September 16 by former Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet secretary Helen Silver.

Ms Silver has also served as executive director of rehabilitation and compensation at the Victorian WorkCover Authority.
