Phil Hibbert has taken the new role of EM at the New Zealand operations of Allianz Global Assistance.

He has previously worked for GE Finance and IAG and been involved in start-ups DriveRight – a mechanical breakdown insurer that was sold to IAG in 2006 – and online warranty and third-party insurer Covernow.

Allianz Global employs 15 staff in New Zealand, and Australian CEO and Regional Hub Director Ian Norris says the company wants to grow in the trans-Tasman market.

He says there is huge potential for travel insurance and roadside assistance in New Zealand.
