Allianz denies union allegations on pay deal

Allianz has disputed Finance Sector Union (FSU) accusations that the insurer plans to slash some workers’ annual pay by thousands of dollars.

The FSU is urging its members to vote against Allianz’s new enterprise agreement, which it says will leave some call centre staff $6000 worse off.

“It is outrageous that a global insurer like Allianz would even contemplate a pay cut for workers,” FSU National Secretary Julia Angrisano said.

The union says Allianz has agreed to higher weekend and night shift loadings, but that a small number of workers will be hit by pay cuts.

But Allianz this morning rejected the claims, saying no employee “will receive less pay than they currently receive, including call centre employees”.

“Allianz believes that its proposed new enterprise agreement is a fair agreement that will improve the package of workplace benefits currently provided to our employees,” a spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“The new agreement expands and enhances benefits in a range of areas, for example, increasing paid parental leave, introducing family and domestic violence leave and increases in other benefits.”
