Allianz completes broker management appointments

Allianz has finalised a leadership team revamp in a restructure of its broker and agency management division.

As reported in a Breaking News bulletin last week, the company has named Michelle Hay as GM Consumer, SME and Platform Solutions, while Alison Brough will move into the role of National Manager Strategy and Key Partnerships. Last month it named Glen Drinnan as GM Broker Distribution.

The three managers will all report directly to Chief GM Broker and Agency David Hosking.

“The way that brokers and underwriters are partnering at the moment is evolving so this is really about reshaping Allianz’s broker and agency proposition to recognise that,” Mr Hosking told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“It starts by looking at the end customer and what their needs are, and the fact that all those end customers have engaged a broker.”

Ms Hay has nearly 20 years’ insurance industry experience across broking, distribution and underwriting and has worked at firms including Zurich, Suncorp and JLT. She will join Allianz in January from Konect, where she was COO and a director.

Ms Brough, whose appointment is effective immediately, has worked to retain and grow the broker business at Allianz after joining from Vero in May.

“Both Michelle and Alison are fantastic additions to the broker and agency leadership team and will be key in driving our customer focus and growth agenda,” Mr Hosking said.

The restructure of the company’s broker and agency management division was prompted by the departures in July of former commercial GM Denis Morrissey and former national manager of key partners Chris Lynch.

“What we want to do is move ourselves on from just providing a good product with good security backed by a good service to really start looking at solutions,” Mr Hosking said.
