AIG state manager joins WA brokerage as CEO

Newly appointed Cowden CEO Alan Tokeley will start next Monday with the Perth-headquartered brokerage, joining from AIG where he has spent the last 15 years as State Manager WA and NT.

Cowden says Mr Tokeley will bring proven management skills and insurance experience, having been extensively involved with the industry in Australia and New Zealand including as a broker for many years.

“[He] is a prized addition to our team, and as we enter our 50th year, will provide the leadership necessary to continue and further build on the culture that has seen the success of the company,” founder Colin Cowden told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“I shall be stepping back from a number of day-to-day tasks, while giving background support to [him].”

His appointment comes as Mr Cowden takes up a new role as Executive Chairman.

The broker says with Mr Cowden taking up the new role, the executive change will provide Mr Tokeley “the opportunity to lead and guide the long-term professional staff through this upcoming stage of embedding Cowden as a truly Australian-owned and operated insurance broking business providing quality service to their clients across Australia”.

Mr Tokeley says he looks forward to working with the team to “continue to deliver high quality service and solutions for our clients in an ever-changing world”.

The brokerage has offices in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
