AHI names new leadership trio

Accident and Health International (AHI) has announced the appointments of Renato Foenander as Deputy CEO, Hugh Ross as COO and Wayne Anstiss as Chief Underwriting Officer.

Mr Foenander has been AHI’s claims and finance manager for more than 15 years, before which he was a physiotherapist.

As Deputy CEO he will maintain responsibility for claims and finance while assisting CEO Peter Banks in driving the company’s strategic direction.

Mr Ross has been AHI’s risk and compliance manager for more than five years.

He was previously director and underwriter at International Underwriting Services for 13 years and has been in the industry for 40 years.

“Hugh started out as a marine underwriter and he has held directorships and senior underwriting management roles in some of Australia’s leading agencies,” Mr Banks said.

He will maintain his risk and compliance responsibilities while also overseeing AHI’s day-to-day running.

Mr Banks says the new leadership trio bring a huge amount of knowledge.

“They are well placed to help develop our people while ensuring we maintain our high service standards, flexibility and speed to market with new initiatives,” he said.

As Chief Underwriting Officer Mr Anstiss will focus on technical aspects of the underwriting portfolio, portfolio management, wordings, training and underwriting manuals.

He has been in the industry for nearly 50 years. Before joining AHI he was national accident and health product manager at Wesfarmers General Insurance.
