Academy off to a good start
CGU’s in-house training program, the CGU Academy, is reporting strong early success. In operation for just six months, the program has conducted more than 2200 training modules, involving more than 2000 hours of staff instruction. More than 600 CGU employees have enrolled.
CEO Mario Pirone says he hopes the academy will make his company the employer of choice in the insurance industry.
“We want to be known as the best and most knowledgeable company in the industry,” he said. “The academy delivers training programs to enable our people to secure the technical underwriting skills they need to achieve this goal.”
The CGU Academy aims to slash the usual development time for an individual underwriter. It currently takes eight years to become fully qualified, but the intense training regime aims to produce fully capable underwriters in just two years.
