John Trowbridge, founder and chairman of actuaries Trowbridge Consulting, has been appointed Group Executive, General Insurance at Suncorp Metway. Mr Trowbridge replaces Daniel Wilkie, who left Suncorp Metway recently after giving evidence at the HIH Royal Commission.

Mr Trowbridge merged his company with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu two years ago, 18 years after setting up the practice from his home. It now has 180 people in Australia and Asia, with offices in six countries.

The new job will be a demanding one, with Suncorp Metway still in the throes of amalgamating the GIO and AMP General businesses.
