The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed Suncorp CEO Insurance Anthony Day as its President and board chairman.

The appointment was made at a special board meeting yesterday.

Former president Colin Fagen left the position last month following his departure from QBE.

Allianz Australia MD Niran Peiris, who is relocating to Germany at the end of this year to take a position on the insurer’s global board, has stepped down as ICA acting president and as deputy president, but remains a director.

Hollard Australia CEO Richard Enthoven has been appointed Deputy President, and QBE Group CFO and CEO Australia and New Zealand Pat Regan has joined the board as a director.
