IAG: shock changes at the top

IAG’s personal lines chief Rick Jackson has been moved into an unrelated position and New Zealand CEO David Smith has quit the group. These two moves are part of a major reshuffle of the top ranks of IAG announced yesterday by IAG CEO Michael Hawker.

The key changes are:

  • David Issa, currently Group Executive, Technology Services, will take up the role as CEO, Personal Insurance. He will continue to have responsibility for the Group’s technology services.
  • Rick Jackson, currently CEO, Personal Insurance, will take on the newly created role of CEO, Asset Management, Reinsurance and Group Strategy.
  • David Smith, currently CEO, IAG NZ, has decided to leave New Zealand and, as a result, IAG. Nick Hawkins, formerly Head of Asset Management and GM Group Finance, will replace Mr Smith.
  • Jacki Johnson, currently Head of Risk Management Services, will join the executive team, as CEO, Business Partnerships – a position similar to one abolished from the top level of management in IAG’s last reshuffle in 2004.
  • All other executives remain in their current positions and Justin Breheny will join the executive in March as CEO, Asia.
