Ex-Chubb chief joins QBE, Standfield goes broking
Former Chubb Australia MD Mark Lingafelter will become MD Asia Pacific at QBE – the latest in a series of major personnel changes taking place at the group.
Mr Lingafelter left Chubb in May “to pursue other opportunities in the insurance industry”.
The Singapore-based position will answer to CEO Emerging Markets David Fried. He will take up the position in September.
And in other breaking news, QBE’s Chief Underwriting Officer Asia, Shaun Standfield, has been named as the new MD of major authorised representative and broker group Insurance Advisernet (IA).
Mr Standfield was appointed to the Asia role in 2012, after serving five years as QBE’s GM Australian Intermediaries.
IA Chairman Ian Carr says Mr Standfield will start with the company in October, working from its newly re-established head office in North Sydney.
“It was time for the business to evolve, and with Shaun on board we’re now ideally placed to do exactly that,” he said.
“His background, experience and reputation are ideal to take IA forward into our next phase and expand our position as the leading dealer group/authorised representative model in Australia and New Zealand.”
The appointment of Mr Lingafelter and the resignation of Mr Standfield cap off a big day of executive moves at QBE.
This morning insuranceNEWS.com.au reported that the CEO of QBE’s Australian and New Zealand operations, Colin Fagen, will be replaced in the role by the Head of the Corporate Partners and Direct business, Tim Plant.
Mr Fagen will become Group Chief Strategy Officer, a global role with responsibility for driving major growth and efficiency initiatives across the group.
These changes will take effect from August 18.
