CGU has been named the winner of the prestigious General Insurer of the Year award at the National Insurance Brokers (NIBA) Convention in Melbourne this morning.

It is the second consecutive win for CGU.

The two other finalists for the award – which is voted on by NIBA members through the association’s annual broker survey – were Allianz and QBE. 

Gold Coast broker Dale Hansen was named winner of the inaugural QBE Stephen Ball Memorial Award for insurance broker of the year. Mr Hansen is CEO of Austbrokers Coast to Coast.

The Warren Tickle Memorial Award for young broker of the year, which is sponsored by Vero, went to Austbrokers AEI Transport broker Noel Kelly.

The Lex McKeown Trophy for services to NIBA and the industry was awarded to Steadfast MD and CEO Robert Kelly.

The QBE Student of the Year Award winner is Maria Parry of Austcover Queensland, and the QBE Trainee of the Year is Veronica Harrison of Oxley Insurance Brokers.
