Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has appointed Mark Lingafelter as Australasia President.

Mr Lingafelter, most recently QBE’s Asia-Pacific Chief Underwriting Officer based in Singapore, will take over from Chris Colahan, who will become president of Berkshire’s specialty insurance operation in the UK and Europe.

“With more than 30 years of experience in the global insurance market, Mark is well qualified to lead our ongoing profitable growth in Australia and New Zealand,” BHSI CEO Peter Eastwood said.

Mr Lingafelter, who was Chubb Australia MD from 2004 to 2015, will be based in the Sydney office.
