Bhatia goes as Wesfarmers Insurance restructures

Wesfarmers Australian Underwriting CEO Vivek Bhatia will leave the Wesfarmers Insurance operation as part of a management restructure.

His role will be absorbed by MD Rob Scott, who says the change is necessary “to simplify decision-making processes and provide greater alignment and support”.

“We’ve flattened the leadership structure, but there will be no change to the leadership of the key businesses – Lumley, WFI and the affinity brands area,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“The leaders in the Australian Underwriting divisions that formerly reported to Vivek will now report directly to me.”

He says Mr Bhatia will seek new opportunities elsewhere.

“Vivek has made a significant contribution since joining our group in 2007. He has been instrumental in the turnaround of Lumley, new initiatives in personal lines and the alignment of our Australian Underwriting operations.

“He has been a great contributor to the leadership team and I wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
