Suncorp returns to ‘heart of Christchurch’

Suncorp New Zealand’s new office in central Christchurch symbolises the insurer’s dedication to rebuilding the city since the earthquakes of 2011, CEO Paul Smeaton says.

Staff moved into the new Te Uruti building in Hereford Street this week, having spent the past six years in temporary premises in Washington Way.

Mr Smeaton says the move returns Suncorp staff to “the heart of the city”.

“Our team has played an important role in the Canterbury recovery, and committing to office space in the Christchurch CBD clearly demonstrates our support of the regeneration of the city, and our confidence in its future,” he said.

The precinct-style development includes two office blocks and a landscaped central park.

Suncorp will occupy half of level four, and the building will be officially opened in May.

The Vero Insurance earthquake team will continue to operate from Hazeldean.
