QBE was the big winner among insurance companies at the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers’ (CQIB) annual awards last week.

About 350 members and guests attended the awards ceremony during CQIB’s annual Queensland Day celebrations at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Six awards were presented, with the Peter McCarthy CQIB Young Professional of the Year (sponsored by Vero) prize going to James Dunstan from North Queensland Insurance Brokers.

He received $1000 and full delegate registration at the CQIB Convention.

QBE won the all-rounder category, with the trophy accepted by Regional Manager Broker Distribution Craig Mauger. Allianz Australia and CGU were joint runners-up.

Underwriter Melissa Denison, from QBE’s Townsville office, won the Mick Lambert Barker Award for “service above and beyond”, and was presented with a cheque for $500.

The claims service award was jointly won by CGU and Allianz, the domestic insurer award was taken by CGU, and the underwriting agency award went to GT Insurance.
