Liberty man takes AILA presidency

Angus Kench, Assistant VP Casualty Claims Asia-Pacific with Liberty International Underwriters, has been elected President of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA).

Stephen Williams, a partner at Perth law firm Kott Gunning, was elected VP and outgoing president Sue Vidler, who is National Manager Claims at Assetinsure, became Treasurer.

Melbourne barrister Kim Bradey continues as Secretary.

Mr Kench says he will focus on helping AILA’s young professionals group and its newly formed national sub-committee, which is planning a large program of events next year.

He is keen to build the AILA brand, and expand membership and seminar attendances.

Mr Kench says the association should exist not only for lawyers but should also deliver pertinent events for insurers, reinsurers, brokers, loss adjusters, lawyers and industry service providers.

“We are very fortunate to have dynamic and passionate branches, without which AILA could not deliver the enormous array of activities we do,” he said.
