ANZIIF opens Peter Corrigan scholarship

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and Finity Consulting have called for submissions to a leadership scholarship program.

The Peter Corrigan Scholarship for Innovation and Leadership provides up to $10,000 to attend an international conference, giving the winner an opportunity to increase their industry understanding and develop professional networks.

Applicants must describe an achievement that demonstrates leadership at work, with entrants for the first time given a choice of three ways to present: a written submission up to 1000 words, a video of up to five minutes or a voiceover for images in PowerPoint.

“We are delighted to again offer a deserving insurance professional this career development opportunity,” ANZIIF CEO Prue Willsford said. “The changes to the award allow participants to highlight their creativity and enter the award in a format suited to their strengths.”

The scholarship is open to insurance professionals who are ANZIIF members and permanent residents of Australia, New Zealand or a country in the Asia-Pacific region.

Peter Corrigan was a highly respected insurance professional who led some of the industry’s biggest companies. He was acting CEO of NRMA Group, CFO at Zurich, MD of AMP General and led GIO through its 1999 restructure.

He died suddenly in March 2012 at the age of 46 while working at actuarial firm Trowbridge, which later rebranded as Finity. The award was set up in 2003.

Applications close on January 15 and the winner will be announced at the ANZIIF Insurtech Conference in Sydney on February 26-27. More details are available here.
