Submissions reopen on dangerous building products

A Senate inquiry into non-conforming building products will continue after being adopted by the 45th Parliament.

The inquiry lapsed due to the federal election, but an interim report highlighted a range of issues including flammable building cladding and dangerous electrical cable.

The Senate Economics References Committee has extended the terms of reference to include importation of products containing asbestos.

Submissions have reopened, but those already provided need not be resubmitted.

Consultation closes on December 1 and the committee will report by May 25.
