East coast low claims pass $420 million

Estimated losses from the east coast low that hit Queensland, NSW and Tasmania in June now stand at $421.69 million – 64% of which are domestic and 36% commercial.

The Insurance Council of Australia has told insuranceNEWS.com.au less than 2% of claims have been denied and more than half are closed.

Lodged claims total 46,363, comprising 27,700 residential building claims, 9624 contents, 3308 domestic motor, 234 “domestic other”, 5018 commercial property, 249 commercial motor, 189 business interruption and 41 “commercial other”.
