Australia Post to sell travel insurance
Australia Post will next year offer travel insurance at post offices, with a product underwritten by Munich Re subsidiary Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK).
The insurance is part of a push by Australia Post to expand beyond traditional mail services and adds to a car insurance offering underwritten by South African insurer Auto & General. Travel Insurance Partners – part of the ASTIS Group, which also includes Cover-More Travel Insurance – will issue the product.
The international comprehensive plan, domestic plan and basic plan travel products are already available online and will be sold through post offices next year.
Australia Post’s 3200 post offices already offer foreign currency services and last year processed 1.5 million passport applications last year, says EGM Retail Services, Christine Corbett.
“Travel insurance is the ideal addition to our growing range of travel services,” she said. “Our goal is to offer our customers all the key services they need under the one roof,” she said.
