Lloyd’s global CRO joins XL Catlin in similar role

XL Catlin has appointed Lloyd’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and General Counsel Sean McGovern as Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Regulatory & Government Affairs.

He will have overall responsibility for XL Catlin’s corporate and regulatory compliance and government affairs.

CEO Mike McGavick says Mr McGovern is “a thought leader in compliance and regulatory affairs” whose experience will “keep XL Catlin at the forefront of the industry agenda”.

London-based Mr McGovern joined Lloyd’s in 1996 and became a director and general counsel in 2002. He was appointed CRO in 2014.

He has been a member of the US Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance since 2011. Last year he was appointed by the US Treasury to a terrorism insurance advisory committee.
