Insurance News confirms expert speakers for strata seminar

A strong line-up of speakers including building defects specialist Bronwyn Weir, industry consultant John Trowbridge and NSW Strata Commissioner John Minns has been confirmed for Insurance News’ half-day strata seminar on May 30.

The Sydney event, which follows last month’s successful inaugural conference, will explore current trends and future challenges in the expanding strata sector. Today is the last day to purchase early bird discounted tickets.

CHU CEO Kimberley Jonsson kicks off by discussing growth trends in strata, before Principal – Climate Analytics at Finity Consulting Sharanjit Paddam looks at the impact of natural disasters.

A panel session will then focus on affordability and address the issue of intermediary remuneration. On the panel are Principal at Taylor Fry Jonathan Cohen, CEO at Whitbread Insurance Brokers Michael Giansiracusa, Mr Trowbridge, and Australian Consumer Insurance Lobby Chair Tyrone Shandiman.

Ms Weir will talk on the critical problem of building defects, while Mr Minns will address concerns around maintenance and repairs.

“This seminar is an ideal opportunity for brokers and underwriters to learn about the many issues surrounding strata insurance at this point,” Insurance News Publisher Terry McMullan said.

The event is made possible by sponsor CHU, and entitles attendees to four NIBA CPD points and four ANZIIF CIP points.
