QBE Australia is to offer professional indemnity cover for Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) flight-testing officers.

It will also cover pilots moving to the new flight examiner rating.

From this week, CASA requires all test officers and examiners to arrange their own policies, rather than be covered by the authority.

QBE Australia National Relationship Manager for Aviation Julian Fraser says the insurer supports the “long-term health of the local aviation industry”.

Meanwhile, QBE Aviation has launched a competition for clients.

The prize includes a 20-minute aerobatic flight with Red Bull Air Race pilot Matt Hall in the Hunter Valley, plus two nights’ accommodation and flights if the winner lives outside NSW.

The major team prize is a guest appearance by Mr Hall. Ten runners-up will receive Matt Hall Racing merchandise packs.

Entrants must describe their best airmanship decision. Entries close on September 26.
