Lloyd’s opens doors to Sydney hub

Lloyd’s new co-tenancy hub was opened in Sydney last week by British Consul-General Nick McInnes.

The market will initially share the premises with Argenta, Talbot and Ironshore, but syndicates, coverholders, brokers, risk managers and insurance buyers are also being encouraged to take advantage of the site to learn and network.

The office features a coffee shop meeting place, a seminar space for 75 people, “hot desks” and wi-fi for visiting syndicate underwriters.

Lloyd’s General Representative in Australia Chris Mackinnon says the market wants to create a more defined physical profile and presence in Australia.

“The Lloyd’s market is an incredibly well-established brand and insurance provider in Australia,” he said. “This hub provides an easy local access point to the Lloyd’s market for brokers and clients, allowing them to tap into the latest innovations and experts on emerging risks.

“Being co-located with Argenta, Talbot and Ironshore and with others in the future means we can provide better access and support for our clients in the various distribution points of insurance, reinsurance and agency.”

Lloyd’s comprises 94 active syndicates, and the hub will allow clients to access the combined scale, expertise and capacity of the entire market in one location.
