Ireland-based Clanwilliam targets Australian expansion

Global technology and services group Clanwilliam has developed an Australia-specific version of a platform that streamlines and secures data exchanges between insurance companies and the healthcare sector.

The Dublin company has formed an ANZ division to drive digital innovation in Australia and New Zealand, where its Konnect NET product is already used by major insurers and GPs.

Konnect NET comprises two platforms – SureMed and SureSmart – mainly aimed at life, workers’ compensation and travel insurers.

The company says the technology has significantly reduced paper usage and costs associated with traditional medical data-sharing, cutting turnaround times to five days from more than 20.

It says data exchanges are underpinned by the highest security levels and the platform ensures Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and Council of Australian Life Insurers data-handling compliance.

“Both health information and health IT are currently massively underutilised strategic tools within Australia’s insurance sector,” Clanwilliam Australia MD Dave Young said.

“We aim to overcome this challenge, streamlining processes, reducing paperwork and enabling rapid decision-making to take place between insurers and health professionals.”

Clanwilliam has invested more than $90 million in the Australasian healthcare technology market since 2017.
