Catlin and Steadfast name rising star

Brooke Gannon of Sydney insurance broker Scott & Broad Clark Pacific has won this year’s Catlin Steadfast Scholarship for industry rising stars.

Her prize is a trip to Catlin Group’s London head office, to gain first-hand knowledge of insurance in the global marketplace.

She will also visit Lloyd’s to experience the market and see underwriters at work.

Ms Gannon joined Scott & Broad in January as an internal account broker. She says she’s looking forward to studying broker-underwriter interaction in the London market.

“This is an incredible opportunity to go over to London and see where insurance began and the Lloyd’s marketplace,” she told insuranceNEWS.com.au this morning.

Her win was announced at the 17th Steadfast Convention in Adelaide this morning.

Catlin Australia has joined with Steadfast to offer the award for the past four years.

This year entrants were asked to consider what changes companies should implement to attract and retain the best talent.

Catlin Australia director Andrew Case says the calibre of entries was “particularly impressive”.

Last year’s winner was Willis Group Placement Services Executive Greg Tolson from Melbourne. “The reason why this award is important to any young insurance professional is that it provides global exposure,” Mr Tolson said.
