RBNZ data-collection program moves step closer

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has completed two insurer data-collection trials, bringing the process a step closer to introduction.

In August the bank announced its intention to establish regular collection from licensed insurers to assist in its role as industry regulator.

It sought submissions from interested parties.

Draft versions of the quarterly insurer survey, insurer return and definitions have now been published online.

More feedback is being sought on the drafts, with final versions likely this month.

Meetings will be held in Auckland on Friday and Wellington next Monday from 10am-noon.

Attendance should be confirmed by emailing insurancedata@rbnz.govt.nz by noon on Thursday.

The first reporting for the quarterly insurer survey is due on August 25, with the insurer return on January 31 – both on a “best-endeavours” basis.
