Direct insurer Youi has entered the Ibisworld top 1000 companies chart, while Auto & General, owner of Budget Insurance, has jumped up the list.

Youi has debuted at number 842 on the list of Australian and New Zealand companies and government institutions ranked by revenue. Auto & General has risen to 788 from 972.

QBE has jumped one spot from last year to 11, while Suncorp Group holds 21st place and IAG has risen to 26 from 29.

Allianz has slipped to 77 from 74, and Zurich Financial Services has fallen to 157 from 148.

Swiss Re is ranked 324, down from 317, Hannover Re moves to 299 from 285, and Munich Re stands at 368, down from 354.

Other general insurers and brokers to make the list include AIG at 447, Ace at 503, Marsh Mercer at 532, Aon at 574 and Chubb at 692.

Genworth Mortgage Insurance debuts in 648th place, while Territory Insurance Office debuts at 927 but will presumably leave the list next year following its takeover by Allianz.

State and federal government-owned insurers also appear on the chart.
