Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has opened an office in London to grow its business in the UK and serve clients in Europe including Ireland, Spain, France and Italy.

The office was established in co-ordination with affiliate Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance.

“We are pleased to expand our specialty insurance operations with a new London office and a growing team of professionals with excellent capabilities and character,” BHSI President UK and Southern Europe Tom Bolt said.

Taking up key positions in the London office are Head of Property Lines Richard Nathan, who was previously Allied World corporate property manager UK and Europe; and Head of Executive and Professional Liability Patrick Brown, who was formerly head of management liability and financial institutions at Travelers Europe.

Former AIG Europe head of casualty claims Andrew Walker has been appointed Head of Claims for UK and Southern Europe.
