Climate change initiative tops ICA dinner menu

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will make “major announcements” on climate change at its annual dinner next month.

The event takes place on May 2 at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney, with more than 400 guests expected to attend.

ICA spokesman Campbell Fuller told insuranceNEWS.com.au today that “several major industry announcements” will be made at the dinner.

“They relate to major issues faced in recent decades around natural catastrophes and underlying causes,” he said.

The announcements will be made by ICA President and Hollard CEO Richard Enthoven. The council has consistently called on governments to invest more in mitigation to counter the impact of natural disasters, which are increasing in frequency and severity.

It recently released ground-breaking research revealing Australia’s top 20 most flood-prone electorates.

Former SBS news presenter Lee Lin Chin will MC the upcoming dinner, which also features author and comedian Anh Do.
