Riddell joins Willis Re as broking chief

General Re client management leader Glen Riddell will join Willis Re next month as the head of broking.

It’s one of seven new appointments at Willis Re.

Mr Riddell says he is looking forward to taking up the new position. “I wasn’t on the broking side, as Gen Re deals with the direct market, but it was a very similar role,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Aon Benfield stalwart Warren Dresner will also join Willis Re’s broking team as executive director while another former Aon Benfield staffer, Michael Barkhausen, will join the catastrophe management team in a services role.

Claire Taylor, formerly with Aspen Re in London, will join catastrophe management as an analyst as will Stephen Martin, formerly at Advent in London.

Gwen Tay will join the broking arm as an account technician and Sandra Schuster, formerly of Munich Re, will join the catastrophe management services team. The moves will occur when the Willis Re hires serve out their notice periods with their current employers.

Willis Re is hiring in part to make up for the loss of some of its staff to JLT Re after it set up a local business.
